On October 18, 2012, travel and clothing company Surf Patch released a statement in regards to being able to fly clear to Europe, despite the downturn in the economy.

According to The New York Times, there is some good news to go with the bad in traveling to Europe during its economic troubles. Despite travel to Europe no longer being as advisable as it used to, there are some ways to find your way there with low cost. Particularly, three countries, Ireland, Greece, and Spain, that have been hit the hardest economically, have benefits and detriments to visiting presently.

In Ireland there are the “zombie hotels”, hotels established during the boom from 1997-2007 with tax breaks and the expectation of high demand from domestic and abroad...In Greece, the decrease in the value of the Euro has brought about discounts at shops and hotels in hope to attract more tourism. However, these positives can be counterbalanced by the economic troubles in Spain.

Traveling and clothing company Surf Patch applauds this news. World traveler Takara Licausi states, “While economic woes are never something to value, this opportunity to boost European travel can be very beneficial down the line.” She continued, “With such opportunities for flying, people should really consider these benefits.”
