The Intelligence Committee said earlier last week that it would hold an open hearing on September 13th as part of its investigation into threats posed by Chinese telecom companies working in the US According to Huaiwei spokesman William Plummer, they will participate in the hearing only if prior arrangements are agreed to. But the exact terms that would bring the company into the congressional chambers were not made public. The intelligence committee will discuss the risks of telecom companies spying on the US on behalf of the Chinese government. As well as other issues. ZTE, Huawei's main competitor, is set to attend the hearing.
