Novitas Group, LLC today announced that Lieutenant Commander Matthew R. BUD/S Class 223. As Military Aide to the President, he led the coordination and implementation of Emergency Actions for the President, including continuity of government operations, with full responsibility for the “nuclear football”. Before serving at the White House, Matt represented U.S. Special Operations Command on interagency teams at the National Counterterrorism Center that focused on counter-piracy and strategic planning against Al-Qaeda. A 2008 graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, Matt was awarded the Lucius N. Coronado, CA, and deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and the Pacific where he specialized in counterterrorism and diplomatic security in high threat environments. Among his many awards are the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Matt is originally from Nebraska and a graduate of the University of Michigan. He is married to Laura Tuck Maasdam, a former U.S. Navy Seahawk helicopter pilot. They have two sons, Abraham and Nathaniel.
