kenyan tea and the kenyan tea industry Something close to the Kenyan people and country is tea Tea is kenyas largest export crop and with over 50 varieties coming from seven tea growing regions, Kenya produces some of the best tea in the world. The Tea Industry in Kenya is unique in that it is comprised of two distinct sectors; the Plantation or large scale sector and the small holder sector. The plantation sector is owned by large scale tea producers and companies while the small holders sector is by small scale growers and families. Kenya is endowed with the ideal climate for growing tea. soils and well-distributed rainfall, That alternate with long sunny days. Tea production goes year round. Kenyan tea is commonly hand picked. and distinct and high quality Kenyan tea is made with the top two leaves and the bud. The main tea growing areas in Kenya are situated in and around the highland areas on both sides of the Great Rift Valley
