Tea production drops by 31% globally

www.ntv.co.ke The global tea industry has dropped by between two and 31 per cent in the first eight months of this year, a factor that has been attributed to adverse weather conditions. The Tea Board of Kenya says that the frost attack that affected some tea growing areas in the country earlier in the year, combined with delayed onset of the rains, resulted in a slight drop of the total green leaf produced in Kenya. But despite the slight set back, Kenya managed to tap into eight new markets, such as Somalia, Djibouti, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ireland, Russia, USA and Turkey.
