The Biafran War - One Day
The Biafran Civil War lasted 3 years (1967-1970), during which nearly 2 million people died. It has been said that the second worst genocide in history (to the Holocaust) occurred in Biafra. This video just skims the surface of the atrocities and pain felt by the Igbo, who suffer to this day. Instead of shoving blame around, we should try to educate those who are ignorant, and break the silence that has surrounded the genocide. Thank you to Women for Women International and Doctors Wihtout Borders (MSF) among many other organizations for their faith, compassion and perseverance while working in Nigeria. Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie have written some of the most captivating, moving books in the world about Igbo culture, history and the war. They are popular worldwide and have received many awards but there are many unspoken heroes as well.
