Jobless claims were down last week to the lowest level in a month, good news for the economy. According to the Labor Department, in the week that ended September 1st, jobless claims decreased to 365000, a drop of 12000. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected 370000 jobless claims. Another jobs report out today showed similar encouraging signs. ADP Employer Services put forward a report today stating that employment increased by 201000 over the past month, which is the largest jobs gain in five months. These new figures may offer some hope, but they're not conclusive. Unemployment still comes in at over 8% , and last week Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke called for further monetary easing. Still, the country may be taking a step in the right direction.
