Fish oil and your health: What are fish oil's true benefits?

Much has been written about the benefits of fish oil and and whether it can help prevent heart disease. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology looked at a range of studies involving tens of thousands of patients over a time span of 30 years. "This isn't just hype; we now have tremendous and compelling evidence that demonstrates the protective benefits of fish oil in multiple aspects of preventive cardiology," Dr. Carl Lavie, an author of the study, writes. Although eating fatty fish is the preferred method of getting the recommended dose of fish oil, supplements, in consultation with a physician, could also be a source.
