On September 4th, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution responds to an article published for The Globe and Mail concerning how Canada’s federal government is using a private debt collection agency to help collect over a million dollars’ worth of criminal related unpaid fines.
According to the article, a collection through The National Fine Recovery Program will be executed in order to recover the near $129 million dollars’ worth of unpaid fines from approximately 22,000 people...In addition, thousands of Canadian citizens owe between $1,000 and $10,000 while over 5,000 people owe less than $250 in unpaid fines. As reported in The Globe and Mail, most people who go to jail for unpaid fines are those who can afford to clear them but refuse to pay.
