Blind Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng may be paying a visit to Taiwan. Taiwan's opposition Democratic Progressive Party legislator Lin Chia-lung will visit New York this Friday. He's expected to invite Chen to visit Taiwan on this year's Human Right's Day, which falls on December 10th. When asked whether he would accept the invitation, Chen said (quote) "I think I will. Whoever invites me, I will accept." After his dramatic escape from 19 months of illegal house arrest at the end of April, Chen sought refuge in the US embassy in Beijing. Chen and his family left China in May after negotiations between Chinese and US officials. Since then, Chen has called on Chinese authorities to investigate his persecution, and to guarantee the safety of his family in China.
