The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) will hold its annual medical symposium in Chicago on October 5 and 6, 2012. This meeting attracts an audience of medical practitioners and scientists from the US, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
“We expect attendance to exceed 300,” says KCA CEO Bill Bro, a 23-year survivor of kidney cancer. “Our organization has grown from humble beginnings at our founder’s kitchen table two decades ago to become a well-respected global enterprise that serves people in more than 100 countries,” he added. “This is one of the most important meetings dedicated to discussion of the treatment of renal cancers.”
KCA encourages those interested in attending to make arrangements early, as the symposium takes place the same weekend as the Chicago Marathon, and hotel space could be scarce. A block of rooms has been reserved at the meeting site, Chicago’s Swissotel, overlooking Lake Michigan, Navy Pier, and the entrance to the Chicago River.
“Our guests will have an opportunity to meet one of the city's oldest residents, Sue,” Bro says. KCA will sponsor a Friday evening reception at Chicago’s Field Museum, the home of a huge reconstructed Tyrannosaurus, the carnivorous dinosaur known affectionately as Sue. Guests will be transported to the museum campus aboard shuttles from the hotel, and there is no additional cost to attend the reception that features access to special museum exhibits, drinks, and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
A meeting agenda, including the complete list of distinguished faculty for the symposium is available online. A special discount of $100 is available to those who register online by August 31, 2012.
