'Blade runner' Pistorius handed dream Olympic ticket

Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius will compete at the Olympic Games after he was named in the South Africa squad for London 2012. The four-time Paralympic Games gold medallist ran in the 400m at the World Championships in Daegu last year, and has been included in South Africa's 4 x 400m relay team. Running on carbon fibre blades, Pistorius missed out on qualification for the individual event, but was delighted to become the first double-amputee Olympian. Saudi female Olympians: Historic breakthrough or false dawn? "Today is really one of the happiest days of my life! Will be in @London2012 for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games!" the 25-year-old tweeted via his official account on the micro-blogging site.
