The figures suggest that people are still struggling with the most basic insurance and risk management questions. YIQ’s research found that 20% of their search traffic has come from users looking for information on how to find a good insurance agent. This traffic lead to users researching information relating to the qualities of a good insurance agent or directly asking the question.
YIQ founder Patrick Sitkins says that demonstrates the reasons YIQ was set up in the first place, “That question, ‘what makes a good insurance agent’, shows people are actively looking for a change. They’re saying, ‘I need help, and I don’t know where to go’”. The idea is that anyone can ask a question and the answer they get is guaranteed to come from an expert source. YIQ is designed to be an expert-curated online insurance resource with the answers sitting alongside blogs from the agents involved and other free insurance resources.
Their research shows a growing interest in the service, with site traffic growing by more than 100% month on month. These users are spending an average of 8 minutes per visit, that’s 4 times the Internet average, researching the various insurance resources on offer. The most popular of which are the question and answer sections. Where people are consistently asking ‘what makes a good insurance agent?’
The answer to that most popular question? According to Sitkins, “A true risk management professional is someone that can not only help you with the right insurance, but they also have a good process of understanding the risks that a business faces. A good agent nowadays can put in the preventative measures, like safety training, to make sure that a claim doesn’t happen in the first place.”
