Mayim Bialik (2012 Emmy Award nominee for The Big Bang Theory, Blossom), Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde of That 70’s Show), and Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Reunion) will take part in a contest for the motion picture The Chicago 8, where entrants have a chance to win a one-on-one chat or meeting with the stars.
The Chicago 8 releases theatrically and on video-on-demand the opening day of the Democratic National Convention, September 4, 2012. It is the true story about the notorious 1968 trial that resulted when seven leaders of an anti-war movement and a member of the Black Panthers, were charged with conspiracy to incite riots in Chicago while protesting near the 1968 DNC. Desperate to stop what they saw as an “immoral war”, this group was ready to take on the establishment, express their freedom of speech by all means necessary, while paying a price for their actions.
One grand prize winner will chat with Mayim Bialik, one with Masterson, the third with Nicholas. The 3 grand prize winners will also receive two movie passes to the North Carolina premiere. The premiere will be held in Charlotte, NC, across the street from the Democratic National Convention, so, in a sense, Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman and Bobby Seale will be back stirring up controversy at a political convention again.
“With recent demonstrations on Wall Street and in the Middle East, The Chicago 8 is timely with its message of being non-apathetic and fearless when it comes to standing up for your rights,” says The Chicago 8 director Pinchas Perry. “This movie becomes even more relevant during this 2012 election year as many voices are being heard throughout the country, no doubt creating a change in the political landscape.”
Winner of the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the 2011 Beverly Hills Film Festival, The Chicago 8 features a star-studded soundtrack with artists such as Bob Dylan and Jefferson Airplane.
