CareWare Systems Sdn Bhd (http://www.careware.com.my), Sage’s top business software reseller in Malaysia for three years running, announced today it has completed the initial phase of a sophisticated, multi-phase implementation of Sage 300 ERP for Mega Printing and Packaging Sdn Bhd.
Mega Printing is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging materials for high-end consumer brands based in Malaysia. The company also provides turn-key packaging consulting from design to production. After an exhaustive ERP search that also included evaluating custom-developed ERP solutions, Mega Printing selected CareWare and Sage 300 ERP because it was impressed by Sage’s ability to allow key customizations without sacrificing best-in-class system design and predictable software costs.
According to Ms. Tan, Manager of Production of Mega Printing, the company had been running its manufacturing and financial accounting on two separate platforms with no integration. “We had no true integration between sales order processing, financial reporting and manufacturing,” Ms. Tan says. “We also needed the ability to track and cost inventory from cradle to grave to give our customers a complete cost break down and help our sales team bid our projects profitably. We had to do a lot of manual work outside the ERP system to complete basic tasks.”
While CareWare and its Sage 300 ERP offering faced other competitors in Mega Printing’s software evaluation process, including SAP Business One, the Malaysian Sage reseller won the competition to help transform Mega Printing’s business processes. “We were able to demonstrate a working solution of Sage 300 ERP during the evaluation phase which met the particular business transaction challenges listed by Mega Printing,” says Robert Tan, CEO and Founder of CareWare Systems. “Sage 300 ERP balances the needs for customization with the best-in-class programming offered by an established ERP developer for small and medium-businesses around the world.”
Some of the business challenges that Mega Printing faced included the need to track and cost inventory by Lots, create multi-level bills of material, and provide greater visibility and control throughout the manufacturing process. “We just completed the first phase of the implementation,” Notes Tan. “Mega Printing went live on the financial, inventory control and sales order processing modules. Management can now pull reports to view inventory tracking, sales order status, and financial reports in near-real time.”
The next phase of the Sage 300 ERP implementation will begin shortly and will include deployment of the complete manufacturing solution. “Sage 300 ERP and AutoSimply will form the backbone of a new, integrated platform to help the company manage its manufacturing process from inventory management to sales fulfillment,” says Tan. “The customized Sage ERP solution will soon allow Mega Printing to perform a variety of advanced manufacturing tasks. The company will be able to track inventory based on Lot numbers, which is a critical requirement for consumer goods packaging companies. Sage 300 ERP will also enable greater control over the financial side of manufacturing, from ensuring that sales bids are profitable to managing the complex materials planning process.”
