The BP bashing seems to have no end. Yet, BP has little if anything to do with the Deepwater Horizon disaster. The Horizon was operated by Transocean, which subcontracted cementing of the hole walls to Halliburton, notorious for its failing cement technology and composition. The supplier of the Blowout Preventer, Cameron, was also cited for neglecting the BOP's control panel. Charging BP with cleaning up the mess raises the question whether BP -- the refiner and marketer of petroleum-based products -- does have the proper experience to deal with a mess of this dimension.
