Baltimore Orioles win 2016 World Series
The 2016 Baltimore Orioles repeated as World Champions by sweeping the Washington Nationals in the "Beltway World Series" 4-0. The 2016 Orioles struggled early to defend their crown, but traded for Dallas Braden in order to bolster their rotation. The Orioles won the AL East by a slim margin over the Boston Red Sox, and barely snuck into the playoffs in a tough AL East race. After sneaking into the playoffs, the Orioles swept the Cleveland Indians 3-0, beat Boston 4-2 by winning 3 straight to end the series, and swept the Nationals 4-0. Overall Baltimore was a whopping 11-2 in the postseason as they clinched their 2nd straight title.
