Omar Khadr is a Canadian who was captured as a child warrior by American forces in Afghanistan. Khadr was 15 years of age when he was captured by American forces and he was held in Guantanamo Bay, where he waited for years to be tried for any crime. According to Wikipedia, Khadr is the only westerner held at Guantanamo Bay who has not been brought back home to the country of origin to serve time. The Canadian Government has not brought this man, who was classified by the United Nations as a child warrior, back home to serve the remainder of his sentence. A University of Toronto, Faculty of Law document outlines how the United States failed to live up to internationally expected standards regarding how child soldiers should be treated. The Harper Conservatives in Ottawa need to act to stop the continued violations of international standards and request that Omar Khadr be returned to Canada where he can serve the remainder of his sentence. en.wikipedia.org www.law.utoronto.ca
