The Symposium will be held at the New York Academy of Sciences at 7 World Trade Center in New York City on July 18th and 19th, 2012.

This is the seventh annual New Energy Symposium. Versatilis LLC, one of 15 emerging cleantech start-ups chosen through a competitive selection process, will present its businesses to a panel of over 40 venture capitalists, angel investors, private equity investors, investment bankers, and government executives. The 2012 Symposium will also feature four expert panels: Alternative Financing Strategies for Cleantech Start-ups; Raising Capital: Lessons Learned from Cleantech Entrepreneurs; Strategies for Cleantech Companies Under the New America Invents Act; and the Importance of IP & Strategies for Commercialization, which will include CEA’s Executive Director James F. Groelinger.

“We are very proud that one of the companies being mentored under the DOE-CEA Partnership has been chosen to present at this prestigious symposium,” said James F. Groelinger, Executive Director of CEA. “These companies represent precisely the kinds of companies that will move the country towards energy self-sufficiency and create jobs.”

Companies were selected through a competitive process by the investor panelists, whereby each company had to complete a two-page application and be rated by the panel. Each start-up company will present a 10-minute pitch, which will be followed by five minutes of questions and answers from the judges. The judges will receive $3 million in fictitious “investment funds” and will be asked to “invest it” in the companies presenting. Each of the three startups from the presentations that receive the highest amount of “investment” from the panel of judges will receive $1,500 to attend the Industry Growth Forum produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and held in Denver, Colorado October 23-24, 2012. This cash prize is sponsored by New Energy New York. All of the presenting start-ups gain the opportunity to introduce their businesses to, and obtain valuable feedback from, potential investors.
