Last August, an agency research team used weather radar to track bugs about 1 mm long that were trapped in an updraft and moved inland from the mouth of Tokyo Bay. Some 2½ hours later a cumulonimbus cloud appeared over Suginami Ward near the flying bugs, bringing a violent downpour. FULL ARTICLE AT Japan Times
