New graduates of American Sentinel University’s business, health care and technology disciplines will converge for a commencement ceremony on June 22 at 10 a.m. MDT at the Harper Humanities Garden on the University of Denver campus.
Frank Mayadas, Ph.D., prominent education innovator and member of the American Sentinel University Board of Trust, will deliver the keynote address – ‘Looking Beyond Success.’
“We are so proud of the work our students have done to achieve their goals. As someone who returned to school later in life I understand well the commitment and the sacrifices that had to be made in order to reach this milestone,” says Mary Adams, President of American Sentinel University.
During the ceremony, Adams will confer 31 degrees, six of which are at the doctorate level and mark the first graduates of American Sentinel’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership program established in 2010.
American Sentinel will present this year’s graduating class with three prestigious awards honoring their academic excellence, leadership and creativity in each discipline.
-Victoria Choate of Cheyenne, Wyo., Master of Science Nursing is the recipient of American Sentinel’s Founder’s Award, signifying the highest grade point average, continuous effort and consistent academic progress.
-Ralph Sprout of University Place, Wash., Bachelor of Science Business Administration is the winner of the Joe B. Wyatt Award, presented to the graduate who has demonstrated outstanding effort, energy and leadership in their student life.
-Rex Djere of Bremerton, Wash., Master of Science Computer Science is the winner of a Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence for the highest grade point average among the graduating class in the technology discipline.
It’s a Family Affair
This year’s graduating class includes a husband and wife that earned the same degrees.
David and Nancy Rathgeber of Fallbrook, California, both earned their Bachelor of Science Computer Science degrees at American Sentinel University.
The couple work for the U.S. Marine Corps and to maintain their competitiveness in their workplace it was important for them to have a computer science degree. DoD.
“As adult students, earning our degrees together made it easier for us because we understood the struggles and frustrations the other was experiencing and we were able to support each other and not lose sight of our goals,” says Nancy Rathgeber. “We were impressed with the university’s outreach to the military community and the flexible layout of the program met our needs.”
