The Chicago Meetup Group, 20s and 30s Welcome to Chicago, is geared toward bringing people who are new in Chicago together for social events that encourage making connections in the city. Sponsored by Boomtownrack.com, the new in Chicago meetup group promises to integrate veteran Chicagoans, those who have lived here for several years, and those who’ve just made the move to the city.
Boomtownrack Chicago is a local news aggregate, shopping center, and online community that is geared specifically for Chicago neighborhoods. The Boom Chicago emphasis on community is what makes the company a perfect sponsor for the new in Chicago Meetup group. Fostering community building is the goal of both parties, and Boom Chicago provides a forum to do that both offline and online.
The inaugural meetup event took place at Angels and Kings Chicago, located in the historic Hard Rock hotel. Each subsequent meetup will focus on a particular neighborhood establishment, ranging from far north side pubs to River North hot spots. The mission is to get those who are new to the city out of their neighborhood comfort zone. Boom Chicago understands that many people stick within the confines of their neighborhood, and that can cause them to miss out on many of the great things that the city has to offer.
Boomtownrack also knows how important it is for Chicagoans to have a strong neighborhood identity, and to connect with others who both share that identity, and who come from places as close as the suburbs and as far away as Germany, in fact, one of the attendees of the first Boom event was actually from Germany.
20s and 30s Welcome to Chicago will plan regular events throughout the summer, all sponsored by Boomtownrack to continue to make the seamless transition from online interaction to offline interaction. Together with online promotion of the events, news stories, and community interaction; the goal of Boom Chicago is to get people more and more involved in reaching out and having a face-to-face conversations over drinks, at the lake, or even over brunch. Keep an eye out for the next event!
