June 13, 2012 – Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC, a Louisville, Colorado based healthcare technology company with a trading exchange that includes 4,000 hospitals across the U.S., has selected Meddius, a Charlottesville, Virginia based integration technology company, as an integration partner for its upcoming Implantable Device Supply Chain solution. In the agreement announced today, Meddius will provide the Meddius Integration Platform to facilitate system integration and data exchange between GHX and hospitals electing to participate in the GHX implantable solution.
“Our relationship with GHX will allow us to expand our acute-care footprint and further our mission of simplifying and accelerating the sharing of data to improve clinical outcomes and reduce healthcare costs,” said Jeff Gunther, CEO of Meddius. “Integration with clinical systems is critical as GHX advances the delivery of their new solution. Like other solution vendors with aggressive growth goals, GHX needed a complete data delivery service that would handle an array of integration scenarios across a diverse set of hospital environments. The Meddius platform was developed to absorb the complexity of this wide spectrum of integration scenarios, so the partnership fit is hand-in-glove.”
In the months leading up to this announcement, GHX had been actively researching a solution that would provide seamless integration with hospital systems, secure transmission of clinical data over the public Internet, and the ability to scale across thousands of hospitals. The Meddius Integration Router® combined with the Integration as a Service delivery model quickly made Meddius the leading choice for a relationship.
“It made sense to partner with an organization whose platform is already proven and trusted in hundreds of hospitals,” said Derek Smith, executive vice president, Marketing and Product Management at GHX. “This relationship gives GHX the ability to bring our industry solution more quickly to the market, allowing us to focus development efforts on our core solution and leverage the progress being made by Meddius to solve some of the integration challenges.”
To minimize the burden on hospital IT resources, a Meddius-enabled deployment for GHX will include the Meddius Integration Router®, which is a self-contained and turnkey integration appliance installed and managed by Meddius inside the hospital network...As part of the partnership, Meddius will monitor and maintain all interfaces to ensure uninterrupted data delivery and service quality.
The solution that includes Meddius HL7 data integration capabilities will be deployed to pilot sites in the third quarter of 2012, with general availability planned for early 2013.
