Elsevier, the leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, selected Aptara to help launch their new eCommerce website. Chosen for their content technology expertise, Aptara led the migration of product content to a brand new eCommerce site. Located at store.elsevier.com, the site houses Elsevier’s complete catalog of eBook, print, and journal titles for professionals and students.
Aptara’s Content Technology team planned and led the migration of the original site’s content, including mapping and transition to the new platform, data backup, site testing, and content validation. Since the launch of the platform in March, Aptara has been responsible for ongoing operational content management of the store’s book, eBook, and journal inventory, including the metadata for each title and its promotional specifications.
“Aptara brings a unique pairing of technology expertise and a deep understanding of the publishing industry, which made them a natural fit for this high-profile project,” said Henk Jan Gerzee, Director of eBusiness at Elsevier. “Going forward, Aptara will continue to play a key role in our eCommerce platform, managing the content and maintaining the level of quality Elsevier is determined to offer its customers.”
“Elsevier’s new, user friendly retail site gives them a distinct business advantage,” said Dev Ganesan, President and CEO of Aptara. “Their well-respected brand and now their attractive new storefront attracts readers directly and reduces their reliance on distribution partners.”
