EthoSource, a used office furniture company in Morgan, PA, has donated cubicles, seating, private offices, filing, and lounge furniture to Berks Women in Crisis as they move into a new facility.
Berks Women in Crisis provides free support, shelter, and assistance to victims of domestic violence. They’re moving into a new four story facility which will double the number of clients they can serve. The new space will also allow them to consolidate all their services in one place. Where previously their services have been split between two buildings, the new address will house counseling services, legal services, emergency housing, a safe house, and other services for the women and children they serve.
The office furniture will make a difference for the agency. Executive Director Mary Kay Bernosky expressed satisfaction with being able to use recycled furniture. The new building is designed with green features, and repurposed furniture fits with that. The furniture, a major upgrade from the office furniture in the organization’s previous spaces, is intended to complement the new building and improve the workers’ daily experience.
The new furniture should offer practical as well as aesthetic improvements...D-shaped workstations which provide storage and privacy for focused work while also allowing workers to talk to one another easily and to meet in their cubicles with clients and colleagues. EthoSource helps companies that are moving, closing, or upgrading by liquidating their unneeded office furniture. The furniture is inspected, refurbished as needed, and then sent out to new offices to meet the needs of new owners. Reusing and recycling furniture in this way can save companies as much as 70% on their office furniture investment, and it also saves enormous amounts of energy and resources.
EthoSource is pleased to have been able to help Berks Women in Crisis. “We give where we live,” says Matt Nuding of EthoSource.
