Memorial Day Weekend will be ushered in at the Cheese Factory Restaurant in Wisconsin Dells, WI with a Poetry Night at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2012, the first of a series of Poetry nights planned as a prelude to the ten-day celebration of International Forgiveness Week and Weekend of Perfect Peace later this year.
The Poetry Night, scheduled to take place in the intimate Starlight Ballroom “Upstairs at the Cheese Factory Restaurant”, is being organized by Course In Miracles Teachers, Wim Haverkamp and Marilyn Blair, both of whom are also very talented poets and musicians.
In an open invitation to the event, Wim Haverkamp wrote: “On May 25, 2012 at 7:00 pm, you are invited to share your love of poetry during an open mic evening in the beautiful Ballroom at The Cheese Factory Restaurant located in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Please be our guest and join us on this special evening to perform your own creative work or read poetry from your favorite book...Everyone is welcome!”
For those who would like to share their poetry but lack the confidence to do so, Wim and Marilyn are offering two preparatory classes where, according to Wim, “you will have an opportunity to perform your work or read it in public, maybe for the first time, in a space of safety and trust.” You will also “develop your public speaking skills by doing some simple and fun exercises," which, Wim explains, "will help you step beyond your fear to experiencing the freedom of self-expression.” The scheduled dates for these classes are May 4 and May 18.
Wim Haverkamp continues, “Poetry night will be an ongoing event leading up to the festivities of International Forgiveness Week and Weekend of Perfect Peace, to be held in Wisconsin Dells, WI, September 14-23, 2012. We also invite you to join us on that joyous occasion and continue with celebrating and demonstrating acts of forgiveness and perfect peace through the love of sharing your poetry.”
“We are thrilled to host Poetry Nights at the Cheese Factory Restaurant,” remarked Forgiveness Week event coordinator, Teacher of God, Clare Lamanna. “The experience of emerging from the darkness of a grievance to the light, peace and joy of forgiveness is at once inspired and inspiring, frequently giving rise to poetic expression. Even the 'non-poetically inclined' are often surprised at the beauty of the poetry that is expressed when they drop their defenses and give voice to the bright innovative ideas and passionate emotions that lie within.
Continued Lamanna, “Miracles really do happen when we join together in a single purpose of Love and Forgiveness. As Jesus Christ so poetically expresses in our Course In Miracles, 'Ours are the eyes through which Christ's vision sees a world redeemed from every thought of sin. Ours are the ears that hear the Voice for God proclaim the world as sinless...And from the oneness that we have attained we call to all our brothers, asking them to share our peace and consummate our joy.'”
