Loyola Press’s 3-Minute Retreat, an online daily prayer experience that fosters spirituality, has received the 2012 Wilbur Award for Web-Based Communication in Multimedia or Online Videos from the Religion Communicators Council.

The annual awards recognize individuals in secular media who demonstrated excellence in publishing religious issues, values, and themes in 2011. A nationwide jury of professionals in secular and religious media selected the 3-Minute Retreat for its content, creativity, impact, and excellence in communicating religious values.

“We feel blessed and honored to be recognized for our ministry of helping people deepen their relationship with God,” says Loyola Press publisher, Paul Brian Campbell, SJ. “It’s our hope that more and more people will discover the 3-Minute Retreat as a way to spiritually re-charge.”

The 3-Minute Retreat offers participants the chance to spend quiet time online with God while reflecting on a Scripture passage and listening to calming music. Available on the Web, through e-mail subscriptions, on Facebook, and via the iPhone® and iPad, the 3-Minute Retreat can be experienced anywhere: while sipping coffee at a café, standing in line at the grocery store, or sitting at a desk computer.

The retreats have gained a robust following since their 2004 creation, enjoying more than 36,000 e-mail subscribers and millions of views per year. Those interested can sign up for daily e-mail reminders here: http://www.3MinuteRetreat.com

Loyola Press’s 3-Minute Retreat and fourteen other Wilbur Award winners including CBS News; Entertainment Weekly; and the Oscar-nominated film, The Help, will be honored at the Religion Communicators Council’s national convention on April 14 in Philadelphia.
