Modern Healthcare has awarded the Trustee of the Year award for Small Hospitals to David Price, board chair of Quorum Health Resources (QHR) client Community Hospital, located in Grand Junction, Colorado. The article appears in Modern Healthcare’s February 13, 2012 issue.

“Mr. Price’s strong Board leadership supported by QHR’s management and consulting services has stabilized Community Hospital’s operations and financials,” said QHR President and CEO James L. Horrar. “Hospital board chairs make a tremendous commitment of their time and talent to their hospitals and communities, so it’s rewarding to see Mr. Price receive well-deserved recognition through Modern Healthcare’s prestigious Trustee of the Year Award.”

“I am accepting this award as a proxy for all of my colleagues on the Board,” stated David Price, Board Chair of Community Hospital. “In fact, the entire Community Hospital organization—board members, physicians, staff and the support from QHR—have really pulled together as a team, dedicated to making Community Hospital the health care leader in a community already known for its excellence and innovation in the field.”

Modern Healthcare received 46 nominations for its annual Trustee of the Year awards program. There were four categories in the competition: large hospitals, those with 100 or more staffed beds; small hospitals, with fewer than 100 staffed beds; not-for-profit healthcare systems; and for-profit healthcare companies. Honorees were chosen by Modern Healthcare’s senior editors.
