Dr. Robert Goecker is passionate about foot and ankle surgery and about using his gifts and talents as a Podiatrist to improve the lives of patients. Whether it's in the Baja Project for Crippled Children providing free corrective surgery to children with clubfoot or right back here in Sarasota, Dr. Goecker comes alive when he has the opportunity to help someone.
Robert Goecker, DPM, a physician in private practice with West Coast Podiatry Center, has been honored by Sarasota Memorial Hospital in recognition of his excellence in the operating room and with patient care.
It was in recognition of this passion and his reputation for excellence that Sarasota Memorial Hospital recently announced that Dr. Goecker would take over as Chief of Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery.
"Dr. Goecker has truly provided some incredible outcomes to patients whom otherwise may have progressed towards major lower extremity amputations," says Dr. Michael Lepore, Past Chief of Staff of the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. "His patients speak extremely highly of him. Dr. Goecker has been an asset to our community and I look forward to continuing to work together with him in the future to provide state of the art vascular care and limb salvage techniques to all of our patients."
"This is truly an honor for me," says Dr. Goecker. "I'm truly passionate about helping patients with reconstruction and trauma, and the really tough limb salvage cases are extremely fulfilling. There's nothing like being able to tell a patient we were able to save their leg."
In addition to caring for patients in the West Coast Podiatry Center offices and performing surgeries at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Dr. Goecker lectures extensively on topics related to foot and ankle surgery for other Podiatrists nationwide. He is on the faculty of the renowned Podiatry Institute, and is a featured lecturer at the Florida Podiatric Medical Association's upcoming Science and Management 2012 conference in Orlando in January.
Dr. Goecker received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery – University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa after completing his undergraduate work at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He then went on to complete a 3-year Surgical Residency at Northlake Regional Medical Center in Tucker, Georgia. He has also completed extensive additional training in arthroscopy of the foot & ankle, microsurgery and other disciplines that give him exceptional positioning as a leading surgeon in Southwest Florida.
Dr Goecker is in practice with Dr. Alissa Zdancewicz and Dr. Stephen Lasday, who also serves as Medical Director of West Coast Podiatry Center and is Past Chief of Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
