Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Agency protested against high-level flour smuggling to Afghanistan via Torkham and other check posts. JI leaders criticized political administration to be involved in flour smuggling to Afghanistan which has created an artificial shortage of flour in Khyber Agency.Zarnoor Afridi deputy secretary general of JI NWFP in his speech said that thousands bags of flour were smuggled by political administration on daily basis. Political administration instead of checking flour smuggling is involved itself in it, blamed Afridi.He was very angry by saying that from top to bottom every body of administration was involved in flour smuggling and thus making million of illegal rupees which was a great set back to Pakistani exchequer. There is an artificial shortage of flour in Khyber Agency because large scale flour bags are carried to Afghanistan on daily basis through different check posts at Landikotal, observed Zarnnor Afridi.He said that Pakistan was passing through various phases of crises now a days such as shortage of flour, inflation and power crisis and all these were he said were created by the rulers and bureaucracy. He said that people in tribal areas were not safe nor they had any flour to eat due to high-level smuggling but he regretted that the government had closed its eyes to see this rampant corruption. Zarnoor Afridi demanded of the government to forthwith transfer all the bureaucracy of Khyber Agency which was involved in corruption and flour smuggling. He also said that American presence was one of the basic reasons of all our crises in Pakistan but they have to face the challenges as loyal citizens of Pakistan.JI Khyber Agency Ameer Hasan Shinwari said that Political Agent of Khyber has withheld legal permits of flour and other items due to which there was a growing trend of smuggling and that they rates of different commodities were sky rocketing. Hasan Shinwari said that any leadership or people afraid of suicide attacks could not face problems to solve them. He said that corruption and flour smuggling cannot be stopped as political administration was itself involved but there was no body to take notice. He said that APA Landikital and his subordinates were all corrupt and were not ready to solve peoples’ problems. Abdur Rauf Shinwari and Syed Muqtadar Shah also highlighted the core issue of flour smuggling and the sky rocketing prices which they told were out of the reach of poor people. Meanwhile people shouted full throat slogans against the flour smuggling and the corruption of administration.
