Bajaur Agency has become a war zone for the last few months. The army of Pakistan on the special directives of the federal PPP led government and provincial ANP led government has started a drastic military operation to smoke out militants both foreign and local from the restive Bajaur Agency bordering Kunar province of Afghanistan. The infantry and air force of Pakistan army have mixed mud and stones in Bajaur Agency annihilating the alleged hideouts of the militants. Both army and the militants have reportedly suffered great human and material losses in Bajaur Agency, as the guerrilla war in Bajaur is becoming tense day by day. The common civilians especially children, tribal women and old people have suffered very much. Some more than half a million tribal people from Bajaur Agency have so far migrated to settled areas of the NWFP for their survival. The two elected MNAs from Bajaur Agency and the ex-MNA Haroon ur Rasheed have time and again raised their cries against military operation in which they have blamed both the government and military for killing the innocent people of Bajaur Agency.The two MNAs Chattan and Shaukat are also of the view that by targeting the innocent people the militancy in their restive agency would get upsurge and increase for it is the nature of the tribesmen to take revenge. Asfandyar Wali Khan, chief of ANP has rightly felt the gravity of situation after the suicide attack on his life at Charsada by saying that his party would try its level best to protect honour, boundary walls of homes and sanctity of Chaddar (Sheet, or scarf) in the Pukhtoons society. Asfandyar Wali might have guessed that the suicide attack on his life must have been a result of the military operation both in FATA and Swat on the request of ANP.ANP has also deviated from the path and philosophy of non-violence of Bacha Khan by imparting weapons to Nagyali Pukhtoons in different districts of NWFP to organize Lashkers against Taliban and other militants. This problem created by generals would be solved only through negotiations and mutual trust. The residents of Bajaur Agency have also complained that the innocent people have sufferd more than the actual militants. They are grieved to much extent for their migration due to which they are feeling dishonoured at various refugees camp. They have also been pushed back economically. Their young generation got a set back from education facility. Anyhow the military operation has caused serious problems for the common people of Bajaur Agency who have been displaced. The refugees of Bajaur Agency are crying for help and basic facilities at their camps but all cries fall on deaf ears. The Lashkers in Bajaur agency will also not produce positive results rather disharmony between Taliban and Lashkers would create serious problems which could lead to more bloodshed in the whole of FATA.
