Managers react to Hughton sacking

Arsenal were unlucky not to beat Necastle United at the St James Park in their opening fixture of the 2011-12 Premier League match. There was no hint of any affect of the turmoil being faced by Arsenal these days. They proved that they were not missing their two stars Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.

They completely dominated the match right from the begining. They entertained the fory six thousand crowd with their short , crisp, accurate and fast passing. Their debutant Gervinho was a constant threat for Newcastle with his fast run downs on the flanks.

However, to the badluck of Arsenal Gervinho was shown red card in the 75th minute of the game. After a fine run down on the left flank Gervinho was tripped in the box by Chiek Tiote a clear cut penalty call which went unnoticed by the refree. Joey Barton cunningly pulled up Gervinho with his shirt from the ground. A melee followed and Gervinho played into the trap of Joey Barton and slapped him on the side of the face. The umpire showed a red card to Gervinho but Barton escaped with a yellow card.

After reducing Arsenal to 10 men Newcastle pushed forward for a winner but could not succeed.

Arsene Wenger must be pleased with his teams performance specially the quartert of midfielders consisting of Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey, Andre Arshwin and Alex Song.

However Arsenal's real test will come next weekend when they will face Liverpool at their home ground.
