At 11:30 p.m. on Sunday May 2nd, 2011--the American President is about to come onto our televisions to announce that Bin Laden has been assassinated. The reporters keep on saying that we did not only kill him but we have his body. I presume this is a type of "head on a wooden spike." A carry over we suppose from the middle ages.
The forces to capture and or kill Bin Laden have been hosting this kill and capture operation. What is the jubilation about? Our obsession with this leader.
The President walked up the red carpet and stood in the east room to deliver a story of redemption nine plus years after the attack on the U.S. The president stressed that we became one big American nation. He tells us a story that we all know. He retells it, perhaps, to put it in context for this evening's speech.
Scores of terrorist have been killed. The operations was carried out by a small team of CIA and special operation forces. We are reminded that this is not the end. We can be certain that there will be retribution.
