Mitt Romney speaks to Creston residents

August 11, 2011 - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had a hard time fending off shouting Iowa voters on Thursday when he told the crowd that "corporations are people."

Romney used the phrase to defend the GOP platform that refuses to raise taxes on people. By classifying corporations as ‘people' Romney thought the crowd would agree with his no tax policy. But it didn't work.

The ensuing shouting match between Romney and the heckling Iowa voters left the candidate struggling to defend his position.

In multiple polls, Americans overwhelmingly say that corporations should pay more taxes to help balance the budget, rather than lay the entire burden on the middle class and poor.

Former Governor Romney stinks. Every day on the campaign trail proves why he is a former Governor. He's usually good for a good gaffe once every two weeks. Simply put, I hope that he doesn't win the Republican Primary because I don't want a Mormon to be President. If Republicans claim to be true evangelicals, then they will not vote for former Gov. Mitt Romney.

Corporations do have the same legal standing as living citizens. It is crazy but true.

Why can't Abraham Lincoln come back...where are the amazing politicians from his time...are they all dead? Maybe Perry will be our Abe.

You can't be serious about Ricky Perry are you-- who some say barely have a sixth grade understanding of economics and who says we can "pray away our myriad problems?" If prayer is the answer, we can then fire the whole lot and save this country some well needed money.

I love it when people like the socially inept Romney puts his foot in mouth. It only goes to show how out of touch he is.

I guess he is right in his world as he killed off jobs to build his corporation. I say go Romney keep up the good work and you for sure will see more of your millions like in 2008 go down the toilet. What a jackass. Hope the dems are capturing these follies for their campaign.

Neither Perry nor Bachmann nor Romney will take the Presidency. Obama's getting re-elected because these crackpots can't keep religion and money from simple politics.
