THE SUPER QUARRY – CANADA (UPDATE)
Olongapo City, Philippines
The Super Quarry –Canada, a project proposed by US Highland Companies to mine limestone from a 2300 acre pit which was strongly and severely opposed by the Canadians which was for approval in July, 2011 by the Minister of Natural Resources Linda Jeffrey however, it was withheld.
In response to my query “Any update about your Minister of Environment?, Michelle Devlin, a fellow contributor writer at Allvoices said, “And yes our petition worked! the Minister of
environment here in Canada sent the quarry people away to get more evidence for her to prove that it won't be dangerous to our environment - so at least for now we have a reprieve! thanks so much for caring!
This writer was able to get hold of the call for a worldwide petition against the mining proposal and penned a letter addressed to Minister Linda Jeffrey of the Ministry of Natural Resources posted at Allvoices on July 09, 2011. It is really very fulfilling to be able to participate in a forum especially when solicited and Allvoices makes such participation possible. MICHELLE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SHORT NOTE.
