Guns in The USA: Are you people crazy? Don't you see that your nation is full of people who carry guns to either take advantage of others, or to protect themselves against others? It's a vicious cycle or circle. Your framers or somebody back in pioneer times declared that everyone has the right to bear arms. They were dealing with enemy military, aggressive aboriginals, and dangerous wildlife. Them days is gone, Americans, and you're all shooting each other. That's okay, but now your guns and the violent people who use them are bleeding over the border into Canada.
Your poison is inundating our great nation. We watch American TV reality cop shows, which are great. The Shift, The First 48 Hours, 48 Hours Mystery, Body of Evidence, etc. The frequency with which seemingly average citizens calmly mention that they took their handgun out of the bedside table, or the purse, or the glovebox freaks me out. It's NOT sane and normal and okay to take it as no big deal that you carry a gun. It's a very big deal, it's wrong and it's stupid.
Our so-called newscasts are so superficial that barely let you know that something happened, but nothing about what's behind it. Don't newscasters know words like, "Perhaps it was...", "It could have been...", "It seems as if...". State the obvious, worded to show its conjecture and not facts. That should be legal, and a lot more interesting than a story that says, "A man was seen running from a rooming house carrying an axe that might have had blood on it. Neighbours called 911 and police were soon on the scene." And that's it. Thanks for nuthin'.
Also against news: Since when is it news that this movie took in more millions on the weekend than did that movie? Since when did the amount of earnings become the barometer by which quality is measured. How dare they declare so many piece of crap films as good because they earned millions. How dare they ignore truly fine films because they don't earn so much money.
The same is true of music. For one thing, rap (should be a 'c' at the beginning of that word). So a piece of crap makes a million bucks. That does not make it good, it simply shows the dismal depths to which our society has shrunk.
Want to know what's wrong with society? Too many people think that wealth and power equal quality. WRONG! Most of the wealthy, powerful people I've known have been insecure, misguided pieces of crap who take every opportunity to take their share and as much of other people's share as possible.
Most of the really quality, dignified and worth-while people I've met in my long life have been simple, hard-working, straight-thinking, honest people. There have been some wealthy, powerful people too, maybe one in 20, but Most simple honest people have greater meaningful quality.
About marijuana. Legalize it, you idiots, and save millions in wasted dollars trying to stop it, and earn millions of dollars in legal taxes. You do it with booze and tobacco, and both are more dangerous than weed would be if it wasn't in the hands of the criminals.
That's my rant for now. Of course you can disagree with me. In that case, you would be wrong, and you would be part of the problem. Join the solution instead.
