On Sunday, former Google engineers unveiled a new search engine that will attempt to outdo the namesake of its previous employer, a service that has not only come to be rarely contested as the leader in internet searches but also expanded to accommodate almost every possible aspect of e-life.
The contender, Cuil (pronounced "Cool"), can be found at www.cuil.com and engineers claim that it employs the largest online index with which to search, in addition to completing its function faster and on lesser means.
Tom Costello, co-founder and chief executive says, "Our significant breakthroughs in search technology have enabled us to index much more of the Internet, placing nearly the entire Web at the fingertips of every user."
Though Cuil may quickly find their efforts to be in vain. Despite its 'shortcomings,' Google is still the largest and most-used search engine on the internet by far and has already faced competition of this caliber. Currently, the second and third ranked search engines, Yahoo and Microsoft, respectively, are in talks of collaboration to take on the internet giant.
