In a crackdown against peddlers of narcotic drugs, the Amritsar City Police arrested a woman identified as Rani, a resident of Gujjarpura and recovered 2170 narcotic capsules and 900 soporific drugs from her. A case under section 21 NDPS Act has been registered against her at C Division Police Station.
SI Surinder Jeet, who led the police party that arrested he woman, said that the woman was arrested during patrolling. He added that the woman was produced in court and taken on remand for further investigation. Meanwhile, bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from three persons in two separate instances.
The cops arrested Joginder Singh alias Jindu, a resident of Nagar Nigam Colony and recovered 52 bottles of illicit liquor from him. A case under sections 61, 1, 14 of the Excise Act has been registered against him at D Division Police Station. The cops recovered 41 bottles of illicit liquor fromalias Hardeep, a resident of Mohalla Hatim Tai.

R P Mittal, Police Commissioner, in a press release, said that a total of 124 bottles of illicit liquor, 2170 narcotic capsules and 900 soporific drugs had been recovered from the accused. He added that further investigations were being held into all these cases.
