How young is too young?

August 4, 2011, Paris, France----We have all seen the disturbing children's beauty pageants where little girls are dressed up to look like life-sized, sexy dolls or grown women and many have called for their ban.

A 10-year-old French model is causing quite a bit of controversy, for like the child pageants, she is seen on the cover of French Vogue dressed to look way beyond her years.

Thylane Loubry Blondeau is wearing adult clothing, with a sexy, smouldering expression staring dead-pan into the camera--lips dark red and pouting--eyes, dark and smoky, hair--well click on the video tab above to view the Good Morning America ABC News report and see what I mean.

Little Blondeau is the daughter of fashion designer, Veronika Loubry and soccer player, Patrick Blondeau.

What do you think of the 10-year-old's look? Should children ever be synonymous with sexy? Is this dangerous and exploitative?

to answer your question: NO.

In what age are you eligible to get married, or treated as adult? In modern era, it would be around 16. In old Japan, girls 'become' adult at thirteen. There should be some regulation so as not to provoke child pornography and sexual abuses in our societies.

I agree Northerlights....pedophiles must be salivating over this little girls pics making the rounds on the Internet and in magazines.

this is Brooke Shields all over again; I do wish her luck though... rated up!

This is worse than Brook Shields. she was 14 and not this sexualized. The expressions on this 10 yr old's face and in her eyes scares me. Disturbs me terribly.

Way too young kids should be allowed to have a childhood not pushed into adulthood too soon. Modeling and beauty pageants are for older kids.

I agree George...this is the time of innocence and childhood not pouty lips and eyes that say what they shouldn't say or know how to say!

oh what's happening to the world? why can't they just let kids be kids these days?

Opinions and accepted norms change over time. No one remembers a NUDE Brooke Shields in Pretty Baby?
No one remembers that Andrew Jackson, one of YOUR founding fathers was boffing 11 his year old slaves?
No one remembers that it wasn't too long ago that 13 was the normal marrying age?

AMERICA = PRUDES

America is getting worse each passing year. They are becoming even stauncher than what was considered normal in the Victorian era. American's mind set is to sexualize EVERYTHING and make it dirty. You people are so paranoid and skewed in your sexuality it's frightening and you want the rest of the world to conform to YOUR viewpoint.

Thank you, but no, I like the fact that in other parts of the world we can simply appreciate things that are "beautiful" and not sexualize them. I appreciate the fact that I can go to a number of beaches where no one is wearing clothes or they are just topless and guess what? No one is getting uptight about it.

America... get you panties out of your crack.
Reply By VeronicaS VeronicaS | almost 2 years ago
We are not talking about topless beaches nor do we live in early times where all sorts of atrocities were accepted as the norm.

It is 2011 and in our society we do not, under any circumstances condone sexualizing our children. There are stages in life and all children should be allowed to progress naturally through those stages. 10 is definitely not the stage for pouty lips and come-do-me eyes!

Anyone who find these pics acceptable needs a background check for it is extremely disturbing to me what theyu find appealing unless one has questionable tastes in children!?

Again, it is YOU, or people that think like you, that makes this sexual.

When I look at that picture I see a beautiful "GIRL" with beautiful eyes, beautiful complexion, beautiful hair and a beautiful face.

Do I want to touch her? NO!

Do I think she's sexy? NO!

Beautiful YES!!!!!!

SEXY ... NO!!!!!!!

Beautiful is for Women, Girls, Flowers, Scenery, Babies, etc.

SEXY is for Women or Men!

Like I said before, it's your twisted perspective in America sexualizes everything and this is where you are completely off base.

You place all of these negative connotations on this picture, blowing it out of proportion. There are literally millions of girls on this planet that are as pretty if not prettier than the girl in the picture. Some one with a camera could go and take candid shots of several hundred of these girls in various settings and display the pictures in an art gallery and you Americans would call it child porn or child exploitation.

When you use the word atrocities, be very careful about saying that. Your great grandparents, if they were alive would probably be offended by your thinking that their life style (marrying at an early age or anything else that is different from your "norm")as something other than what it was; and I'm guessing for them they called it LOVE!

And who are you to say that the "early times where all sorts of atrocities were accepted as the norm" is not a paradigm that may return 70 or 100 years from now and the people of that era may look back at us as freaks.

Americans are myopic in so many ways and the view point sexualizing everything is really annoying.

Just look at the picture for what it is; a picture of BEAUTIFUL GIRL.

I don't consider her look to be alluring, smoldering or anything like that.

My comments earlier about nude beaches (with naked people of ALL ages) is meant for your enlighten that in some areas of the world naked people are NOT viewed as sexual objects or sexualized in any manner. We see naked people in TV commercials; children exposed to this grow up without the dysfunctional thinking about sex and sexuality that pervades America and as a result we have less sexual crimes, fewer rapes, less child molestation and fewer problems with healthy sexual relationships and less divorces.

Americans tend to be busybodies always trying to "fix" someone else's problems when they have more problems than most anyone else.

Everything in American regarding sex is considered a taboo. And any intelligent people know that happens when you make almost everything "TABOO" it leads to frustration or whole classes of lonely people and causes many other problems in your society.

Look what happened when you made Alcohol taboo at the turn of the last century. Look at how well your War On Drugs is working.

You lock consenting adults up for prostitution because that behavior is NOT acceptable to some.

Why is it that some people think that they have more right to be on this planet than anyone else; telling people what they can and can not drink or what substance they can or can not put into their bodies; or TELLING ME HOW I SHOULD THINK ABOUT A PICTURE!

What gives you the right to tell me how I should think?

I CHOOSE NOT TO THINK OF THIS GIRL IN A SEXUAL MANNER.

Are you telling me, that I don't have the right to do that? Are you telling me that I must view this picture as an "atrocity" as an abomination?

You can't be that pinheaded to think that EVERY PERSON looks at that picture in the same way you perceive it.

I can imagine there are perverts looking at it in one way. How do you think her PARENTS view that picture? You have, and many others have a lot of gall to push your warped sense of sexuality on people that look at their child as anything BUT BEAUTIFUL!

Your long diatribe changes nothing. You can cloak it in obscure text---you can get long-winded. You can see the color blue and say it is pink. That still wouldn't make it pink.

Anyone who understands what sexuality means, will know what sexy looks like. Let's not spilt hairs here Sir.

She is a beautiful child but she is not dressed or looks like a child. She looks like a woman and he expression in far from childlike. Everything about her says sexy--there is nothing innocent about that look in her eyes. Don't pretend not to see it.

a 10 year old child should not be pouting with heavy lip stick and make-up on. A child should not be dressed to look beyond her years and experience, then paraded like a pint size mannequin for the world to ogle. It's dangerous and exploitative.

Then again if you thing that get-up is child-like well----
