Syrian troops intensify offensive against Hama

Syrian forces have intensified, according to opponents of the regime of their offensive against the city of Hama. Massive armored forces were engaged on Wednesday on the Orontes, in the center of the protest stronghold, reported Syrian activists.

Regularly were explosions and gunfire were heard. Also at the center of the northeastern town of Deir al-Zor to armored columns have been run.

Hama from sparsely came more news. The authorities had previously severed all telephone lines, shared with human rights activists in Beirut.The news channel Al-Jazeera reported renewed shelling in the afternoon.

The Syrian security forces had launched an offensive last Sunday against Hama. Alone on the first day of the 100 civilians to be killed. The regime in Damascus described the action as a measure to fight against "armed gangs".
