In the summer of 2002 there were indications that Hezbollah was assisting al Qaeda. Army 1st Lieutenant Samer Hanna, was killed when a hezbollah terrorist opened fire on his helicopter over Sojod hills in south Lebanon in Aug 2008... The Islamic republic of Lebanon: Inspired by the success of the Iranian Revolution and establishment of an Islamic Republic in Iran, Hezbollah also dreamt of transforming Lebanon's multi-religion state into an Iranian-style Islamic state. The 2006 Lebanon War, known in Lebanon as the July War against Israel destroyed Lebanon: Some 50000 families have been financially affected by the war. 7 May 2008: Hezbollah-led opposition fighters seized control of several West Beirut neighborhoods from Future Movement militiamen loyal to the government, in street battles that left 11 dead and 30 wounded.
