French killed in Argentina: Families call for respect of their pain

The families of two French tourists killed in Argentina, received Sunday by Secretary of State for French nationals abroad, David Douillet, called for "the pain is respected" and "respected their privacy," said a ministry statement Foreign Affairs.

At this meeting the crisis center of the Quai d'Orsay 'families urged that their pain is respected and that their privacy is protected, "the statement said.

Asked about the identity of the two victims, the Foreign Ministry said that the families had hoped that it will not be disclosed.

These families "were also asked to go soon on the spot" in Argentina. "The ministry will provide all the assistance and support they need," said the statement from the Quai d'Orsay.

"On behalf of Mr Alain Juppe, Minister of State, the entire government and the national community, the Secretary of State expressed his solidarity with the families and assured mobilization services of the state, both in Paris and Argentina, to assist in this event, "concludes the text.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry had said to "fully trust the Argentine authorities (...) to shed light on the murders so that those responsible are identified and considered."

The bodies of two French tourists, aged thirty years, with bullet holes were found Friday night in a tourist area in the province of Salta in northern Argentina, and the body of the One of them showed signs of sexual violence, said Saturday the Argentine authorities and local courts.

"The ambassador of France in Argentina, the Consul General of France and several consular officers travel to the province of Salta," had said the Foreign Ministry.
