Duhok - The first ever official group committed to the establishment of an independent Kurdish state in Iraq has been founded in Dohuk Province, Kurdistan Region.
The formation of the Kurdish Nation State Group was announced Sunday at a press conference in the city of Dohuk, the provincial capital.
Kurds form the largest nation in the world who do not have an independent state of their own. There are about 40 million Kurds scattered over Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and parts of the former Soviet of Russia.
The group believes in reaching its objectives through peaceful means, Salim continued, using international diplomacy, the media and civil society organizations to advocate change.
