The eldest aunt of President, Josephine Cojuangco-Reyes, died Tuesday after she collapsed while delivering a eulogy for her brother, Pedro Cojuangco. She was 83.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Cojuangco-Reyes was taken to the St. Lukes Medical Center Global City but did not make it.
Cojuangco-Reyes, a former president of the Far Eastern University and vice president of the Central Azucarera de Tarlac, was the widow of Nicanor Reyes Jr., who had also been president of the same university.
A daughter of the late Jose Cojuangco of Tarlac and Demetria Sumulong, Cojuangco-Reyes was the second of six Cojuangco siblings: Pedro, Teresita Lopa, former President, Jose Jr., and Maria Paz Teopaco. She is survived by Jose and Maria Paz Teopaco.
Pedro, who was board chairman and president of the Hacienda Luisita sugar estate in Tarlac, died of a heart attack Wednesday at age 84. ManilaStandardToday.
