Mexican police have arrested a leader of the infamous La Linea criminal outfit on Saturday.
Quoting a military leader, Mexican state-run media said Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez, known as El Diego, was arrested during an operation in Chihuahua.
La Linea is the armed wing of the Juarez drug cartel, which is blamed for many killings in Mexico.
In March 2010, this group gunned down U.S. Consulate employee Lesley Enriquez and her husband, Arthur Redelfs, when they left a birthday party in a white SUV.
Another victim, found dead in the other vehicle, was identified as the husband of a Mexican employee of the consulate.
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez has welcomed the arrest.
Olga Bashbush, the U.S. spokeswoman said they are happy with the arrest and congratulate the Mexican authorities.
