The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan issued the average life expectancy report on July 27. Women lived longest in the world: 86.39, shorter by 0.05 from 2009, whereas men 79.64, longer by 0.05 compared with the previous.
The report analyzes the reasons for the shorter period could have resulted from the heatstroke last year; highest number of 1718 was counted. Also the hot summer of 2009 brought many deaths causing from heart failure, pneumonia.
Japanese women have been topped in 26 consecutive years. 86.39
2nd Hong Kong 85.9
3rd France 84.8
Men’s Ranking is:
1st Hong Kong 80.0
2nd Switzerland 79.8
3rd Israel 79.7
4th Japan 79.64
You may wonder why Japanese men ranks 4th while their counterpart is enjoying the 1st place. One reason is the high suicide rate of Japanese men;
35.9 persons commit suicide in every 100,000 and 14.4 for women.
My mom, in the extreme left in the photo lived 88 years and others lived well over 90 at Ave Maria Oasis, a small day care service run by volunteers.
Next year, we may have to give the first position to Hong Kong since too many people died from the 311 earthquakes and tsunami and its aftereffect at the evacuation centers.
