12 blasts in Ahmedabad kill 5 killed, injure 27

AHMEDABAD: Five persons were killed and 27 others injured in 12 blasts that hit Ahmedabad city of India on Saturday, an Indian TV channel reported.

The injured are being shifted to L.J. Hospital.

High alert has been declared in major cities including New Delhi.

Yesterday, seven bombs rocked Bangalore city in which a woman was wounded.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patel have condemened the blasts.

Manmohan Singh has appealed to the people to remain calm and peaceful.
