Arson attack on home of Sinti and Roma

In an apartment building in Leverkusen, unknown perpetrators set fire to possibly xenophobic. Dwell in the house, police said Sinti and Roma.

The perpetrators were hurled into the early hours of Monday, several Molotov cocktails in the ground floor apartment, said a police spokesman.The residents were able to save time outdoors and were unharmed.

"We find in all directions. We also examine whether there is a xenophobic background, "said a spokesman for the Cologne public prosecutor. From a right-wing background, he did not want to talk.

Time of the offense, nine people had been in the ground floor apartment.They burned down completely. The charges are attempted murder and very serious arson.

After initial witness statements, there were up to four offenders. Two of them are dressed in dark and had to be bald. After the stranger had hurled firebombs into the apartment, they were driven away in a dark compact car.

The Central Council of German Sinti and Roma, expressed horror at the attack and called for thorough investigation. The Chairman Romani Rose, said in the past there have been constant threats of violence from right-wing extremist scene.
