PESHAWAR, July 23. Family members from Regi village alleged police of burning their household things and opening fire on them for no allegations saying women of the homes were insulted by the police during body search.
“We are too poor to eat even two times as we earn livelihood for children on daily wages,” lamented Tilah Muhammad while talking to media persons here at press club Peshawar. “The women who prevented firing and burning of their houses while faced insults by police,” he claimed.
He said they came from Fijr prayers and were busy in breakfast when the police raided their home and opened firing on them, “The children, women and men had narrow escape from the lavishly firing and the police gathered all the household things, burnt them alongwith their house,” he added.
“The police asked us to show whereabouts of the fugitives who we neither know nor have any kind of relation or neighborhood with the wanted people but it started beating us, children and women,” he expressed anger over police high handedness with innocent and poor civilians.
After police cruelty, he said on one hand, it set ablaze to their houses and others as well but on the other it kept forcing them to vacate and leave that area forever, “This is our personal house which was destroyed by police and we can’t adopt resident in city or other village because of our poverty,” he said.
He said the police then took his brother, three cousins including their brother in-law who belonged to Punjab. He added they were already flood-hit affectees and saved each penny to for their rehabilitation and reconstruction of their mud-made house,
“We eat when my sons earn something and when they come to home with empty hands, the whole family face hungriness,” Gohar Bibi, a mother of Tilah Muhammad cried and added that the police made cruelty with them, “I curse on the police and the rulers for such viciousness with them,” she said they were alongwith children sitting in the open sky.
They appealed to Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) for taking notice of the police high handedness and demanded of the government for reconstruction of their burnt house and household things
