Earthquake strikes Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz border service said 75,000 Kyrgyz citizens fled to Uzbekistan

According to US Geological Survey an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 which was centered about 11 miles deep and some 26 miles south west of the Uzbek city of Ferghana struck Uzbekistan and Krygystan. The quake which struck the central Asia at 1935 GMT Tuesday has left 13 people dead and about 86 injured.

All the casualities happened in Uzbekistan, because so far Kyrgyzstan has not reported any casualities.

According to the Uzbek ministry some old buildings have been destroyed in the Ferghana city. there was panic all around and mostly the people spenet the rest of the night out in the streets.

It may be of interest to the readers that the city of Ferghana is one of the most densely populated city in the entire region. the city of ferghana is named after the Ferghana valley which runs through three countries Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
